Drawing closer to ALLAH

I was browsing through my old documents back when I was still a university student and found something worth sharing, so here goes..

Things that will draw you closer to Allah:

  • Begin your day with the fajr salah, follow it with the remembrance and supplications, and then get off to work.
  • Read the Quran everyday, read with your eyes through the words
  • Pray the salah adh-dhuha. Brighten your day by praying in the masjid.
  • If someone says something mean to you, shrug it off and dismiss it in a friendly manner, and pray that Allah shall forgive them.
  • When you get angry, change your position – sit or lay down. Seek refuge with Allah from syaitan, try to do something productive – busy your mind.
  • When you are happy, try to share your happiness with others. Remember Allah and thank Him by sharing it with those close to you. Do something good.
  • When something bad or embarrassing happens to you, thank Allah. Remember that it is not worse.
  • Do something extra of goodness once in a while, like feeding a poor person, or caressing an orphan’s head.
  • Never stop believing that you can win Allah’s love and thus work for it.
  • Spend some time thinking of Allah’s amazing creations.
  • Always love those who love Allah unconditionally. This way you will ensure that you live for Him, love for Him, and hate for Him (those who are enemies of Him).
  • Find the righteous ways to express yourself, and if you think that what you are about to say will yield no benefit, maintain silence.
  • Every now and then give yourself a break. Play sports, give time to your family and friends, but always remember Allah and know that He is watching you all the time.
  • Hug your parents, kiss their hands and heads, and always obey but stop at Allah’s order
  • Smile to everyone, makes a different to that person and you are rewarded
  • Forgive, forget, smile
  • When people criticize your actions and efforts, revise your actions and see if they please Allah or not. If they do, then ignore and remember how all prophets and companions were criticized and made fun of, and even physically harmed.
  • Don’t let popularity go to your head, for it never lasts and you may lose from it more than gain.
  • Never look down on anybody, for, to Allah they may be better than you.
  • Put Allah first in you life. (I think this should’ve been put at the top of the list, right?)

The bond of brotherhood

Since Adam was born, Aish has progressed really well in accepting the fact that he now has a baby brother and that mama cannot give full attention to him alone.

If I may recall, the first two days back from the hospital were the worst days.  Aish  was cranky all day long, wouldn’t talk to me and in the end became so restless that he could not sleep well at night.  Adam on the other hand, slept almost throughout the day and only when the clock hit 12AM onwards, his eyes would be wide open and he would cry for milk every hour or so.  And of course, Aish would wake up to Adam’s cry only to join him crying.

Now, 2 months has passed and I’m proud to share how things are…

Aish just love every opportunity he gets to hold Adam.  Maybe cuz it makes him feel like a big brother 😉 Adam didn’t like it so much but in this particular vid he didn’t mind at all and in fact was enjoying every bit of Aish’s cheek. LOL. Aren’t they just cute??
